Brian was eighteen, he was about to graduate so his class decided to go on a graduation trip to Vancouver, Canada. He was excited, mostly to finally be done with school and soon attend Imperial College London to study physics.
So there Brian was, in Vancouver, in his hotel room unpacking his things before being forced out his room by the teachers for a group tour around the city.
“Can’t they give us a minute..? We just arrived..”, He mumbled annoyed to himself while the students gathered.
When they arrived in the city centre the teachers explained the places they could go to.
“So you all can walk around in pairs”, *one teacher started, before looking at Brian who seemed awkward and standing alone. “Or alone, that’s fine as well.. Just find your way back here in… let’s say three hours?”
Brian didn’t mind exploring Vancouver on his own, yet he still felt embarrassed, his friend Roger didn’t go on the trip so he had no one to talk to and the other students already saw him as a quiet nerd.
Alone, he walked through the streets. It felt so much different from London.. And also much colder. He bought a book in a small bookstore and just walked around a while, grabbing a coffee before he heads to a bus stop, indenting to get back to the place the teachers told everyone to get back to.
Coffee in hand, Brian arrived at the bus stop right as it started snowing. There was already someone there, ducking under the bus stop shelter, standing near the edge and watching the snow slowly cover the streets. For a moment, neither of them spoke and all he could do was look at how captivating they looked. Suddenly they glanced sideways to him, their eyes met and the cold didn’t feel so cold anymore.
