His weary soul so worn down, with the left scars untold, his heart’s full of sound. He leaded his troops, his burden hard to share. His strength a lie as he quietly stared. Against the truth that will rend. Their souls, tainted with grief. Hands stained with blood and strife.

He hid his pain both day and night. The toll of war upon his soul a plight. Though silent and strong, he was breaking inside. The war had left its mark on his soul. A deep and ugly scar, forever taking its toll.

No matter his rank, no matter his might, his emotions and thoughts, the feeling of regret and the memories of dying victims of war was eating him up alive. Even though he tried to hide it, his lover's eyes saw his pain and the truth he tried to conceal. Their heart aching for their lover in vain, as they had to watch him break and kneel. —————————

Tonight once again, the shadows crept in his mind, the memories filling up his head. He felt the weight on every step. The guilt a constant, unwelcome guest. Showing up in his dreams, rising him up from bed. The Captain's heart was heavy with the weight of memories, dreary. The voices of those he's killed echo in his head, they were ill.

He felt chained by his own guilt; By the lives he's had to cut short. He felt the weight of every chain, the feeling of their blood was still there even though his hands weren't dirty. A constant reminder of his plight.

He couldn't find no peace. The guilt of his past did not ease, the overwhelming feeling making him want to rip everything on him apart. He hid his tears from your sight, not wanting the comfort you'd offered. He didn't think he'd deserve it. The bed felt too soft for his remorse; too good for a man like him. He pushed you away.

He was trapped in his mind, trapped in a dark host. He stood in front of you, as you tried to get him to go to bed. He denied it, though. "I do not deserve to sleep in a bad, like a normal human. Like a real person." He muttered out, his knuckles turned white as he clenched his fists.
