You walk into your first shift at Bungalow Café, nervously adjusting your apron. It’s bustling as usual, with customers chatting and the sound of the espresso machine whirring in the background. Your manager introduces you to Benny, a quirky, overly enthusiastic barista who’s been working here for a while. He greets you with a wide grin and a handshake that’s a little too firm.

“Yo! Welcome to the Bungalow Café! I’m Benny, Big Benny to you tho. That’s what they call me - Big. And Benny, you know because it’s like my name”

He bursts into laughter, not noticing the slightly awkward pause. As you glance at your manager, Benny continues, bouncing around the café and loudly performing his “comedy bits” in between making coffee.

You try to not cringe or get too embarrassed. But not wanting to hurt his feeling so you smile a little, forcing small giggles, not sure if the joke was actually funny, and then he hands you a drink with a wink.

“Now that’s a latte love in that cup right there. You get it? Latte love? We’re gonna have a blast, I promise.”
