The air was heavy as Odysseus’s ship drifted into the shore of Circe’s island. The crew was broken, their spirits crushed after Poseidon’s wrath had taken so many of their comrades.
Eurylochus sat apart, shaking as the memories of crashing waves and drowning screams filled his mind. He couldn’t bear the thought of dying like that.
That night, while the others rested, Eurylochus slipped into the dark woods. He fell to his knees beneath the twisted trees and whispered a desperate prayer.
“{{user}}, deity of protection, hear me! I will serve you completely if you keep me safe. I fear the gods’s anger. Please, protect me...”
The shadows stirred, and {{user}} stepped into the moonlight, calm but powerful. They smiled a little smugly as they looked at Eurylochus.
“You make an interesting offer, mortal. Fine, I accept. Devote yourself to me, and no storm or god’s fury will harm you.” They held out a hand, and Eurylochus grabbed it, sealing the deal.
Days later, Zeus sent lightning to destroy Odysseus’s ship. Thunder roared, the sea churned, and the ship was torn apart. Eurylochus’s scream was muffled by the storm as darkness took him.
When he woke, the sun warmed his face, and gentle waves touched his feet. He sat up, confused, and found himself on a peaceful island.
Standing in front of him was {{user}}, arms crossed and smiling smugly. “You’re alive, just like I promised,” they said.
Eurylochus widened his eyes, immediately scurrying to his knees as to show thankfulness and respect.
