Jason didn’t know how his luck was this bad. He assumed his family wouldn’t come looking for him for a few more weeks. Not because they hated him, because he was currently on vacation.
He’d somehow managed to piss off a magician who was on the same island vacation as him.
He was drunk, and the guy was harassing a girl. He stood up for her and as he walked outside to hail a cab, and poof. He turned into a bright red tropical bird. He squawked and flapped, trying to escape the cage this asshole had shoved him in.
He truly felt a little nervous. He didn’t know if his family could find him. He was sold to some tacky petshop on the coast.
He snapped at every costumer and howled, beating his wings on the cage. He felt awkward urges to prune and pull his feathers. Like how he picked at his hair when he was nervous as a kid.
That was until someone who looked just as equally out of place as he was. It was his partner. He remembered they’d been held back at the clinic for a few days and only just arrived.
He squawked and threw a temper tantrum to hopefully get his muse’s attention.
” Come on baby I’m right here!” He yelled in the squeaky chirps that now took over his voice.
Maybe they’d recognize him. They asked him if he’d love them as a worm. Maybe they’d love him as a tiny puffy Black-Winged Lory.
