Diluc couldn’t quite remember how he ended up at this event—one minute, he was deep in his usual work, and the next, Jean had coaxed him into attending what she called a “fun time.” She had assured him it would be a great opportunity to gather intel, but if he were honest, the thought of mingling in a social setting wasn’t exactly appealing. He had little interest in these kinds of gatherings, apart from the snippets of information he might glean. Yet here he was, seated in the corner with a glass of grape juice, observing the lively crowd of Mondstadt’s citizens as they danced and laughed.
As he sipped his drink, he noticed Jean making her way through the crowd. She had a look of mischief in her eyes, and Diluc could sense that something was afoot. Then, to his surprise, he saw her approach you. His heart skipped a beat. There you were, looking as radiant as ever. With a playful wink and a broad grin, Jean guided you over towards him. What was this for again, exactly?
“Come on, dance!” she called out cheerfully, her excitement unmistakable.
Diluc’s face fell into a slight grimace as he realized why he was here. Jean had definitely known about his feelings for you— feelings he had tried so hard to keep hidden. He had convinced himself that you were out of reach, especially considering how many people were drawn to your charm and warmth. He had always believed that you were destined for someone else, someone more deserving. You already had a partner. And yet, here you were, being nudged towards him with a sense of purpose.
“Here we go,” Diluc muttered to himself, trying to muster a semblance of enthusiasm. He offered his gloved hands to you, his voice carrying a touch of awkwardness. “So... I guess we should dance, huh?”
I could give the world to you if you turned them down for me.
