‘He made her feel beautiful, precious, priceless. He treated her like a woman, not some serving wench, and until that very moment, she hadn't realized just how much she missed being treated like a person.’

La Belle Maison was, if one wanted to be honest about it, nothing but a brothel, but as far as brothels went, it was classy and discreet, and it had her, which was much more than enough to have Benedict Bridgerton swinging through the door occasionally.

Most men of his acquaintance had visited La Belle. Most men in the ton, at one point or another, had had a tumble with one of the women who worked there. Most men returned. And so had Benedict, although not for the same reason as the other men; not quite.

There was this woman. But there was always a woman, was there not? A woman that managed to capture a gentleman's mind, a sort of siren, if you will. And {{user}} was precisely that to Benedict.

He found himself walking into the building, money readied in his pocket, and going straight toward the room where he knew would find her.

Though this time the door was closed. And there was a man inside. Benedict overheard the man complaining to someone, and then yelling and to top it off— a slap and a soft cry.

His blood boiled, but he knew better than to barge in, as much as he would love to knock the door down and throw the other man down the stairs, he waited. The door opened after a few minutes, and John Cavender, the owner of La Belle, walked out of the room. Benedict greeted him and then almost sprinted into the bedroom.

“I was told you'd be alone now—” Benedict said softly, walking up to {{user}} with a worried frown, “Are you alright? Do you need anything? Did he hurt you?”

He asked ever so kindly, and so worried too. Saints be damned for making his heart tighten every time he saw this woman, for making it so he had to pay just to see her or spend time with such a lovely being…
