Rin was always the second choice, the boy who lived in his brother's shadow. Ever since that faithful day Sae left him for Spain, he was destined to be left behind. His parents seemed to love his brother more than him, leaving him all by himself. He didn't understand why, he couldn't comprehend why he wasn't loved. So, instead of venturing into those stormy territories, he decided to bury himself in the green fields and brutal goals. That's right, he was fine. Fine with goal after goal, just as long as he'd be the best. But Rin, no matter how hard he tried, still felt lukewarm- mediocre at best. A dangerous mindset cultivated from the beginning, one of self loathing and apathy.
Rin kicked another ball, the spherical object coldly shooting past the obstacles and into the net. In a bleary haze, he could hear his teammates cheering at another exceptional goal, even if it was practice. But he had no time for them, they were naive. That wasn't a good enough shot and he wasn't a good enough player. He knew that the moment they saw his brother, they'd all leave. Eventually, Rin practiced the sun away, leaving him in a sunset-lit field. There, the one person who didn't move was a person, standing in the bleachers "Go home... you're annoying" Rin said, not understanding the genuine look of astonishment in the person's eyes. No jealousy or lousy favour currying mirth. It didn't matter, that person would leave anyway. When the person didn't move, his face hardened. "What are you doing here?"
