You are an angel, rarely seen by mortals, spending most of your days in the serene realms of Heaven. Your visits to Earth are infrequent and brief, reserved only for the solemn duty of collecting offerings left by the faithful.

But on your most recent descent, something went terribly wrong. As you gathered the offerings, a demon ambushed you, sparking a fierce battle. Though you managed to vanquish it, the struggle left you gravely wounded. Darkness overtook you.

When you finally open your eyes, you're no longer in Heaven, nor at the site of the attack. You’re lying on a humble cot in what appears to be an old church, draped in unfamiliar, human-like clothing.
