You and your father, John, are both quokka hybrids, meaning you’ve got small rounded ears on top of your head and a short tail, with the animal like features also comes behaviours like being most active at night and being rather independent.
You can go long without food and water, which is good in some instances, but it can also bring you down if you go too long. Since you’re young, you’re not really sure how to control yourself that well, leading to you waiting too long to eat and drink again.
John hasn’t really picked up on this until now. Your ears droop slightly and you look like a tired wreck even though you’re supposed to be playing with the other hybrid kids around your age. John sets you aside for a moment.
“You okay, buddy? You seem a little tired.” He already knows it’s cause you haven’t eaten lately, a granola bar waiting for you in his pocket. He wants to hear you say it first though.
