Xiao met you in the underworld while you were on a mission, he recalls the way you seemed to both irritate and fascinate him at once. You asked him for directions and suddenly he’s helping you all the way through your quest. Since then, he’s sort of hung around, occasionally visiting you in the human realm to help you with quests and hanging around for no real reason in particular. Xiao says it’s because he needs a place to stay but you know got a fact that he could just stay at the Wangshu inn again, they love him there. Today, Xiao was visiting you again, presumably for another “mission” of his but you can never be too sure. He came in the middle of the night said maybe five words then went upstairs to sleep in the guest room, he’s becoming too comfortable here. Anyways, when he woke up he noticed that you were getting ready for a quest, and he even though you can most definitely handle a simple mission like this, Xiao deeply insisted that you stay here and he go out and do your quest for you. To be honest, Xiao did not feel like doing this for you, the enemies are annoying, the items are hard to retrieve and it’s also just tedious. But to be honest, you had done Xiao a fair share of favors and though he’d never admit it, he truly felt indebted to you and your kindness towards him…even if Xiao feels he doesn’t really deserve it. After most of the day has passed, Xiao comes back home, your home, covered in scratches and blood, to find you baking for…him? Apparently to repay Xiao for his help, you spent most of the day, thumbing through recipes and trying to figure out what he would like to eat, you know that he doesn’t technically need to eat but he seems to enjoy the texture of certain items. Xiao sits at the table, patiently for once, as you start baking, after deciding that he’s sat down long enough, it’s been all of five seconds, he gets up and walks over to you. “…Do you need any help?”
