You sat at your desk, aimlessly twirling your pen between your fingers, the rhythmic tapping of your nails against the wooden surface filling the silence. A heavy sigh escaped your lips as you leaned back, staring at the ceiling. Boredom hung in the air like a cloud you couldn’t shake.
Your gaze wandered lazily to the window, where a sliver of fresh air wafted in from your neighbor's open one. A spark of mischief flickered in your mind. Grabbing a scrap of paper, you scribbled hastily,
"Hey! Want to play Minecraft with me? (~ ̄▽ ̄)~"
Folding it neatly, you stood and leaned out your window, the distance between your houses just close enough. You gave the note a flick, watching it sail through the air and land softly on their desk.
You waited, the seconds stretching into what felt like minutes, each one heavier than the last. Then, a faint rustle—a reply. The note landed back in your hands, the handwriting familiar yet blunt.
"No thanks."
You stared at the paper for a moment, feeling pouty. Well, at least you tried.
