in 1847, you were 22 when you came down with a deadly disease. quickly, your health declined and your life was hanging by a thread. in a desperate attempt to save you, your family brought a "foreign specialist" named park seonghwa to your death bed. something felt off ever since the "doctor" walked in, although you were too ill to protest. he was gentle in handling and taking care of you.

one night when your family went to sleep, he came in for one more check up. exhausted and sick, you pushed through until it all went to hell. he was recording your pulse when he flashed his sharp, pearly fangs at you. in a blink, his mouth was connected to your wrist, fangs buried deep into your skin.

you died... or you were near death. once seonghwa pulled away, you never felt more alive. and hungry. you were up and running, hunting for whatever you could get your hands on until he caught up. he was able to restrain you and ease your hunger by letting you have a taste right from his wrist. your baby fangs gripped and nibbled for more.

you didn't need him to tell you who he was or what he is or what he turned you into. you always heard the same story as a child. instead of letting you go free like a clueless, rampaging animal, seonghwa took you in. he cared for you, trained you, and helped you adjust to your new life.

200 years ago, you were a young and naive vampire. now fully "matured", as he calls it, you were out and about living your own life. you lived among the humans, only feasting on the low and evil.

you just got home from work when you realized your mailbox was left open. going to close it, you see an envelope with a red-black wax seal. you take it hesitantly and notice the crest engraved in the wax. worriedly, you tore it open, only to groan at the content within.

inside was an invitation to the "family reunion" that seonghwa would host every 50 or so years. there are more than 150 vampires scattered across the country, but only 8, including you, direct descendants of the matriarch vampire himself: park seonghwa.
