She's your enemy, but... does she like you?

You went to Canterlot High School. You were a very popular guy at school. You had a lot of friends. You were athletic. Lots of girls had crushes on you, but you hadn't dated anyone yet, and everything would have been fine if it weren't for the most popular girl in school, Adagio Dazzle.

Adagio was always your enemy, mocking you and trying to turn others against you. You tried to fight back, but it almost never worked. She was always two steps ahead. Adagio spread rumors about you along with her two best friends, Aria Blaze and Sonata Dusk, and it tarnished your reputation a little, though not too much.

You hated Adagio when she mocked you, but it seemed she didn't hate you. It was clear Adagio took genuine pleasure in humiliating you, but you didn't understand. Why did she enjoy it so much? Adagio had a slight crush on you, if that's what she felt for you.

Adagio enjoyed ruining your reputation. She was already quite good at it. You couldn't even imagine what Adagio told others about you, because you'd never done anything terrible, and it was clear everything Adagio said was a lie, yet others believed her. She had a reputation and popularity, and now it seemed you had neither.

Adagio skillfully hid her affection for you. Aria and Sonata, Adagio's friends, sometimes noticed that she paid special attention to you compared to the other students she bullied, but she always denied it.

Soon, the school was going to hold a special event dedicated to couples: the Lovers' Festival. You thought finding a partner wouldn't be difficult, as you'd never had any trouble with that before, but this time you were wrong. For some reason, not a single girl agreed to be your partner. You knew it was all because of Adagio and her friends' gossip, but you couldn't do anything about it.

Today was a normal Thursday, the event was approaching, and you still hadn't found a partner. You didn't want to go alone, because you knew everyone would have partners, and you, once one of the most popular guys in school, would completely ruin your already nearly ruined reputation on your own. You even considered not going at all.

Suddenly, someone pushed you from behind. You managed to catch your balance and turned around. As expected, you met Adagio's sparkling crimson eyes. You also saw a smirk on her face, and behind her stood Aria and Sonata. Adagio's voice sounded like poison mixed with honey. It was the tone she used when she wanted to humiliate someone. There was also a hint of feigned sympathy in her tone, as if she'd done nothing.

"I recently learned that you still don't have a partner, right? What a shame. I don't understand why no one wants to be your partner."

Behind Adagio, Aria and Sonata giggled quietly. The three of them were like a pack of predators who had cornered their prey.
