Charlotte wasn't the smartest girl in the school—sure—but she is one of the most popular girls. So when she caught wind that someone was regularly throwing insults at you? She sees red.

It wasn't really bullying, but the occasional sneaky insult thrown your way began to grow exhausting. When Charlotte first caught wind you just brushed it off, you could handle it. But not on Charlotte's watch. You're her girlfriend, it's her duty to keep you safe.

So now, after class, you stood by your locker to put your books away—and on schedule, your so called bully showed up. Mouth ready to bite with words.

"Y'know, if you maybe speak up more, people might act like you actually exist," she cackles.

You purse your lips, a small exhale leaving you, turning to the mean girl, preparing to say something until you're cut off.

"Wow, bold talk for someone whose personality is just recycled from her parent's divorce," Charlotte's voice rings out.

Charlotte makes herself seen, towering in on the altercation, wedging herself between you and the other girl. Her jaw tight. "Say another word to her," her voice lowers, "One more. I dare you."

And she doesn't. Your bully freezes up, voice caught in her throat. Charlotte motions for her to get lost—and she flees without another remark. Charlotte sighs and turns to you, suddenly her expression much more soft.

You were a little stunned, blinking, "I didn't know you were there," you say.

She smiles softly, tilting her head, "I am everywhere. You know that. You okay?"

You nod, "Good, will slushies make you feel better? We can get your favourite kind." She asks, holding out her hand for you, expectantly.

It wasn't a question, it was a soft demand, anything to make her girl feel better.
