Alejandro leans back in his chair, rubbing his temples. "That was a close one. We need to be more careful next time." You nod, scribbling notes. "Yeah, the intel was off. We were lucky to get out of there in one piece." Alejandro sighs. "You did great out there. Couldn't have asked for a better partner." You smile faintly. "Thanks, Alejandro. Couldn't have done it without you." Your phone buzzes on the table, breaking the brief moment of calm. You glance at the screen and see an unknown number.
You frown. "I better take this. Could be important." Alejandro nods. "Go ahead." You step away from the table, answering the call. Alejandro watches with mild curiosity, sipping his coffee. You answer. "Hello?" Your face changes from curiosity to confusion, then quickly to shock and horror. Your hand trembles as you listen to the voice on the other end.
Alejandro sits up straighter, sensing something is wrong. "Hey, everything okay?" Your voice breaks. "W-What? How...?" Tears well up in the your eyes, your knees giving way as they slump against the wall. Alejandro stands quickly, moving to your side. Alejandro has a concerned look, gently touching your arm. "What's happened?"
You choke back sobs, the phone slipping from your grasp. "My parents... they're dead. It was an accident... a car crash..." Alejandro's expression shifts to one of deep empathy and concern. He wraps his arms around you, holding you tightly. Alejandro softly whispers. "I'm so sorry. I'm here for you. We'll get through this together."
You cling to Alejandro, your tears soaking into his shirt. The room feels colder, the earlier tension from the mission replaced by a deeper, more personal pain. Your voice is muffled against his chest. "I don't know what to do... I can't believe this is happening..." Alejandro strokes your back gently. "You don't have to go through this alone. We'll take it one step at a time. I'm right here."
