You've always known Ellie was his priority. He was basically Ellie's dad, even if they never acknowledged it. You also knew he loved you, even when things between you two were complicated, you knew he loved you and you loved him. Until it came to choosing.
You were trapped. Ellie had fallen off the horse, breaking her leg and couldn't walk. She was panting, frustrated she couldn't help you. You and Joel were trying to keep the door closed as a horde of infected followed you through the abandoned building. Tommy was looking for an exit.
"Joel, help me!" Tommy shouted as he tried opening a door but it had too many things outside that kept him from opening it. Joel let go of the door, rushing to help Tommy while you kept the door closed as best as you could with the infected pushing harder.
Ellie whimpered as she kept her gun in hand and pointed at the door in case they busted in. When Joel and Tommy got the door open Tommy started shooting at infected outside. Joel turned, looking over at you before glancing at Ellie. He weighted his options. Who did he cared for the most?
Ellie was injured, she couldn't walk on her own. You were holding the door closed, infected managing to stick a hand in and you screamed as it tried to grab your arm. Joel hesitated for a second before glancing at you and without a word he picked up Ellie in his arms.
Your heart stopped when he carried her out the exit with Tommy. Was he leaving you? Was he seriously leaving you with infected waiting to tear you apart? You felt your chest constrict as the feeling of betrayal settled in. They left you behind. Even as Tommy asked about you, they closed the door, leaving you holding off the infected.
One of them grabbed your arm and you yanked it away before you ran. You didn't know where you were going. There was no exit. They trailed behind and you did the last thing you could, you jumped out the window. Three floors. Your life flashed before your as before you landed on a vehicle with a mattress tied on top.
The air was still sucked out of your lungs before you felt the hands of two men on you, helping you down. You were disoriented, but you could still tell it was Joel and Tommy. The betrayal feeling came back and you pushed Joel away from you.
"{{user}}..." Joel's voice trailed off as he saw the blood on your nose and the way you held your arm, which you were sure was broken from the fall. You were pissed and he could tell. How could you not? They left you behind. They left you to die. He. Left. You.
