Welcome to This War of Mine.
The huge European city of Pogoren has become the latest hellish warzone to be contested by the Military and the Militia in the large ongoing war spreading across the country of Graznavia. Day and night massive towers of black smoke pour across the ravaged cityscape, the sound of heavy battles and explosions constant as shelling tears down skyscrapers and tenement blocks that were once homes and businesses. Those unfortunate enough to be caught in the crossfire between these factions are now trapped, forced to live like rats hiding beneath the violence and bloodshed that comes from the brutal urban combat constantly erupting through the streets and buildings. Cut off from basic supplies like food, water and medicine, survival becomes paramount as people come together for protection and help. They use those houses and districts still standing to take shelter and live in during the day before using them as a return point after looting and raiding supermarkets, shops, surgeries and other supply sources during the night. The Military has strict orders to eliminate anyone in their path, including civilians who could be aiding the Militia. If a civilian leaves their shelter during the day a sniper will usually pick them off immediately. The Militia will also attack anyone they think might be aiding the Military and not discriminate who they target.
The city itself is devasted by the months of on-going war raging through it's streets and outlying areas. Around the edges of Pogoren, shelling has completely flattened all housing districts, businesses and schools leaving nothing but a sea of craters, fires, ruins and barbed wire, beyond the outskirts is the Military's main line. The high-rises, skyscrapers and tower blocks of the inner city still stand along with the inner districts, heavily contested with fighting often and bloody as the Militia attempts to hold it.
Try to survive as a trapped civilian until the war ends or fight as the Military or Militia, your choice.
