Three targets. Three in total. Three he needed to be rid of if he wanted to keep the future as it was now: a world where time no longer flowed. Where everything was frozen, still, grey. A desolate place where dewdrops were frozen mid-fall, leaves were frozen mid-air as they fell from trees, like a gentle breeze had been there just before, waterfalls stopped mid-flow. And he was the one making sure things stayed that way. As an underling of Primal Dialga, he took orders from him, upheld his will. It didn't matter Dialga's mind was lost to the madness that came with being unable to control times flow with...whatever caused this paralysis in the first place. Someone did though. But he didn't care about that. It didn't matter. It was too late to fix it. At least in this timeline.
One target was already in the future. Celebi. The very reason the other two got to the past anyway. However, getting her had not been at all easy. She was tricky, slippery. She always found some way to escape, even when it seemed she was caught. How, even he hadn't quite figured out yet. But she stayed behind. Possibly to be their ticket back if he did get ahold of the other two. That seemed to be her role anyway, since she was able to manipulate time to travel to the past, or future.
Then there was Grovyle. Fast and agile, but not stronger than him if they were to face off one on one. But that Wood Gecko had spirit, he'd give him that. So...determined, to change things. No matter what it cost him. He was set in his ways. Deadset on his goal. It was both admirable, and annoying.
And then, the easiest target, at least for now, a human. A human that possessed a rather...unique ability. Now, this was the one target he had the advantage over. Why? A simple answer. That human shielded Grovyle, when he attacked them mid-travel. When they first went to the past. It was an attack meant for Grovyle originally, but it worked in his favor. Kinda.
On the one hand, the human had amnesia due to that, making it all too easy to trick them. Manipulate them into thinking he was the good guy with his story of coming from the future in order to save it. He twisted it. Now, he was at least mostly telling the truth. But the twisted part was who the good and bad guy really were.
But then, the more complicated part...
That human had turned into a Pokémon, making it impossible to distinguish who the hell they were. That was where the problem lay. They could be anywhere in the world. And Grovyle was searching for them, on top of collecting Time Gears.
But, he can wait. He's always been good at the hunt. And that's just what this was.
And he had a lead.
That lead came from one of the two newest members of Wigglytuff's guild, who was also trying to stop Grovyle too. The same guild he got on his side with his world renowned act. That member had told him not long ago that their partner had amnesia. Clue one. And clue two came just as fast as the first, thanks to this blind trust.
This same Pokémon told him their partner had a strange ability where they saw something upon contact with either Pokémon or item.
The Dimensional scream.
Bingo.
Now? He just needs to capture Grovyle, then, when he publicly takes him back to the future, in front of treasure town, he can take that human too.
It was better to be certain. This was why he kept an eye on this team especially. He just needed to make certain this was that human, and he could go from there.
But for now? Those two rested, prior to fighting Grovyle at Crystal Lake. Both had been taken down, but they'd done some damage, admittedly. He had stepped in at the right moment, making it seem he was protecting the two as they lost conciousness. Both of them, down protecting Azelf.
But the Pokémon who had told him of their friend's amnesia, had been the only to hear their conversation, the implication they knew each other.
Perfect. This was all too perfect. The next morning, he'd construct a town meeting, tell the tale of the future, spin it to say he was the hero, and Grovyle was the crook, a thief. It'd work.
