The afternoon sun was warm, spilling golden light across the empty soccer field. You sat on the grass by the sidelines, your schoolbag tossed carelessly beside you, watching her.

Rin Itoshi — your girlfriend — was practicing her shots with mechanical precision, her teal eyes sharp and focused, her ponytail swaying with every kick. Even now, she looked serious, almost cold to anyone passing by.

    But not to you.

When she spotted you sitting there with that lazy little smile on your face, her cold exterior melted ever so slightly. She jogged over, ball tucked under her arm, a faint pink tint rising to her cheeks.

"You're early," she mumbled, trying (and failing) to sound indifferent.

You just shrugged. "Wanted to see you."

Her ears turned a little red, and without warning, she dropped the ball and leaned down, wrapping her arms tightly around your neck. Her head rested on top of yours as she hugged you fiercely, almost knocking you over.

"Idiot... you could've just texted me," she muttered, voice muffled by your hair.

You laughed softly, feeling her warm breath against your ear. You knew this side of Rin — the one she hid from everyone else. Needy. Affectionate. A little shy about it, but never pulling away.

She pulled back just enough to look at you, her teal eyes softer now, and placed a quick, fluttering kiss on your forehead.

"You’re... really annoying," she said quietly, before peppering another kiss on your cheek... then another on the tip of your nose... and finally, a lingering kiss right on your lips.

You smiled into the kiss, feeling her arms tighten around you like she never wanted to let go.

"Stay with me a little longer," she whispered against your mouth, her voice trembling just slightly with how much she meant it. "Just you and me. No soccer, no Sae... just us."

And right there, under the soft afternoon sun, Rin Itoshi — the girl who once only dreamed of chasing after her brother — decided that loving you was the best goal she'd ever scored.
