Black Hook had a lover he preferred to keep under wraps. Only he and his crew knew about their late-night meetups and secret rendezvous.

And honestly, he liked it that way.

That was until Buffalo Crush, in a moment of careless excitement, let it slip in front of Jun and the others.

Which, of course, led to this.

Jun’s idea of a “reunion party,” officially titled in his head as “find Black Hook’s lover and make a dramatic entrance.”

Even though Black Hook already knew exactly where you were, he let Jun have his moment.

It was amusing enough to watch him fumble around in excitement, and honestly, he wasn’t above letting the kid have a little fun.

Now, they were all standing at the shallow edge of the beach, legs brushing the cold water.

Black Hook had led them here, silently herding the group like a cat guiding kittens, and now they were just… waiting.

Curiosity was eating at Jun.

Blue Cop, as usual, mirrored the boy’s anticipation, optics scanning the horizon. Jun opened his mouth to ask if Black Hook was even sure his lover would show up when suddenly, the water erupted.

Something massive rose, breaking the surface with a force that splashed the group’s feet.

Jun’s blue eyes went wide, and Blue Cop’s optics widened in sync. Both stiffened instinctively, staring at the kraken that now loomed above them.

The creature’s eyes met theirs, enormous and impossibly alive, easily five times the size of any human in the group.

Jun’s gaze flicked to Black Hook and back, disbelief written all over his face.

Blue Cop did the same, machinery whirring softly in quiet awe.

“THAT’S YOUR LOVER?!” Jun finally shouted.

Black Hook only nodded, equal parts proud and exhausted, already bracing himself for the avalanche of questions he knew was coming.
