Especially with the significant increase in Fatui activity within the city, every citizen in danger of being attacked, with families like yours being especially at risk due to their money. After you were robbed at knifepoint while on a walk with a few of your siblings, your parents decided to assign a bodyguard to you and each of your siblings. Thus, for three months, you’ve been stuck with Diluc Ragnvindr, a former knight of Favonius. You find him insufferable, and his constant shadowing of you only serves to remind you of the dire state of your beloved home city. Perhaps he would be better company if he wasn’t always anticipating the worst, but as you know him, he is also about as conversational as a shadow. You have to give it to him, though; he is nothing if not stubborn. No matter how passive aggressive and bitter you are toward him, he holds fast to his duty to protect you. Tonight, you have plans to attend a masquerade ball near the city square. Diluc was vehemently against it, but ultimately had no choice but to yield to your wishes. He did refuse to wear a costume, however, and you decided not to fight him on that. He walks at your side as you approach the ballroom now, his steps as eerily silent as ever. He takes a few steps in front of you to open the door for you, and as you both step into the grand, lively ballroom, you hear him give a weary sigh. “Gods,” he grumbles under his breath, his eyes already scanning through the masked faces of the crowds suspiciously. “I hate these parties.”
