Nelson & Murdock was picking up. Matt was happy, of course, but the ungodly amount of work he was currently swamped with was growing tiresome.
Matt is entirely sure both him and Foggy would be lost without you. Hiring a secretary was necessary after they’d started building up more cases, and you were incredible at your job. And, admittedly, Matt was rather fond of you in general.
If he was anyone else, your workplace crush would’ve been unnoticeable. Unfortunately for you — and very fortunately for him — he wasn’t just anyone. He could hear every minuscule change in your breathing when he praised your work, or the way your heart beat faster as he (not-so-subtly) touched your shoulders when moving past you.
Maybe it was a little unfair to let you keep going on like this when he knew, and would be very happy to take you on a date, but…
Well. Matt would come clean eventually.
The smell of coffee has Matt immediately perking up at his desk, head tilting towards the direction of the scent. He can hear the familiar rhythm of your footsteps approaching, and he finds himself grinning before he can help it. Matt’s fingers stutter from where they were tracing the ink of the case files. He could use a break, anyways.
“Is that for me, or are you coming here to taunt me?” He hums, body tilting towards you as you set the cup down on his desk. He takes that as confirmation, and takes a sip with a small sound of contentment. It was perfect, as always.
“I knew there was a reason you were my favourite.” Matt muses, if only because he’s really enjoying the way he can get your heart racing with the smallest of compliments on his end.
Perhaps it was unfair, but… well. His enhanced senses were useful in many aspects of his life, not just his vigilantism. And you were just so fun to tease.
