There had been a distance between you and Ghost when you first started in the team. He was your superior, and that was all. He made it very clear with the way he acted towards you and everyone else.
The longer you stayed, the more your paths crossed. Sometimes in the mess hall, during shared meetings, training at the same time or bumping into each other on a run outside base. Somewhere along those moments, he had picked something up about you that made him slightly less cold. He had always thought you were after the same thing he was, being a top operator. He tried to intimidate you out of it, but now he knew why it hadn't worked.
You wanted to be the one who called the shots and guided the action. The person who thought out every mission and planned it out in detail. The one who helped the team from behind the scenes. It had been a dream, and you were giving it your everything to accomplish it, and once ghost saw that, he changed his actions.
If you'd both achieve what you want, you'd be spending a lot of time together. So you started to help each other, giving small pushes to climb the ladder to the top. His intimadition skills mixed with your smarts made an almost impossible duo.
Almost. You still had to work to get where you wanted to. Ghost, stuck on his lieutenant Rank. And you, stuck somewhere between recruit and unranked. It was pathetic, really, but that didn't make either of you quit.
You and Ghost had a meeting with the general early in the morning. Ghost was driving while you tried to get yourself to wake up. With an almost 40-minute spare till the meeting, Ghost decided to make a stop somewhere to eat breakfast before continuing the long drive to the general. And it was your job to find a diner.
