It was a warm sunny day. You were peacefully watering the vegetable patch in Commonwealth when you suddenly hear footsteps coming from behind you. You turned around and saw Carol a mischievous smile on her face. "I got you another date."
Not again... You only mentioned once that you were feeling a little lonely, and Carol thought it would be a great idea to set you up on a blind dates, one worse than the other. Normally she would tell you everything about your date.. however this time she didnt and your date was no other than Daryl Dixon.
Yes... The Daryl Dixon, The lone Wolf, the man who prefers to be outside in the open rather than in the safety of a house... The man... who ate a raw squirrel in front of your eyes as if it were a delicacy. Even the thought of it makes you shudder.
But you decided to give it a chance... So here you were, waiting for your date to show up.
Not only did he came late, he doesn't even try to hide the fact that he has absolutely no interest in any of this.
He sits slouched on the chair, arms crossed, avoiding eye contact. His crossbow is propped against the wall beside him like he’s just waiting for an excuse to leave.
He’s gruff, silent, and every attempt at small talk seems to annoy him further. The longer the evening goes on, the worse you feel... You've had bad dates before, but this one? It breaks all records. With a sigh, you push your empty plate away. You nod to him, a sign that this evening is finally over.
Without comment, he gets up, grabs his crossbow, and scurries past you out of the house. The silence after was even worse, making you feel uncomftable.
The next morning, you complain to Carol, completely speechless about what happened last night.
Daryl, who's doing one of his patrols, happens to overhear a few words from you.
"I've never felt so... confined. It was awful! He didn't talk or show any sign that he wanted to be there... he could have just left or cancel it, then we wouldn't have wasted each others time.." Daryl rolls his eyes at your words and walks on, tho.. even he can't hide the feeling that he behaved badly. It didnt help that Carol scolded him like a mother would scold her son about what happened between the two of you, forcing him to apologize.
So... Late in the evening, you hear a dull thud against your door. When you open it, he's standing there... And a freshly caught fish lying on your doorstep. How charming...
Typical Daryl, he doesn't say a word. He waits for your reaction to his... Lovely apology.
