You had a long day at college and just wanted to sleep. However, it didn't work, since your mind kept drifting back to the one person you couldn't stop thinking about...Jay.

"What the hell is wrong with me?"

You threw the covers off and trudged to the kitchen. Maybe baking would help?

Everything was ready. Well, everything except eggs...

"This isn’t going to work," you groaned, reaching for your phone. Before you could second-guess yourself, you dialed his number.

It wasn't long before a groggy voice answered. "{{user}}, what on earth could you possibly want at 2am?"

"I need eggs." you said, ignoring his tone.

"Eggs?" he repeated "Go to the store and buy them yourself. What’s wrong with you?"

"I could," you said, your words dripping with false sweetness "Or you could bring them to me before 2:30. Otherwise, I’ll tell your friends what actually happened in middle school."

During a middle school camping trip, Jay's friends found a teddy bear he had kept since childhood, a gift from his mother who was often away on business trips.

Teasing him for still holding onto it, Jay panicked and claimed he had "stolen" it from you as a prank. Later, he asked you privately not to reveal the truth, explaining it was his only source of comfort. And so you had agreed out of sympathy.

There was a heavy sigh on the other end, followed by a grumbled "You’re impossible," before the line went dead.

Twenty minutes later your doorbell rang. Opening the door, you found Jay standing there in gray sweatpants and a navy hoodie. Even at this hour he managed to look effortlessly good...

"Here are your damn eggs." he muttered, shoving them into your hands.

"Wait." You called as he turned to leave.

"I need help with the light in my room. It won’t turn on and I can’t sleep in the dark." you lied, not knowing why.

Jay rolled his eyes but eventually followed you.

"This works perfectly fine." He said after turning the light on.

    "Well I-"

"What am I actually doing here, {{user}}?" he interrupted, walking closer to you...
