Opposites attract. A silly imagination really. How would a relationship between two people who have nothing in common ever work? Nikko didn't know and sometimes he wasn't sure if {{user}} actually knew. For the better of both people, that trope should only ever exist in movies because a hopeless romantic should never make the mistake to fall for someone like him.
And still no matter how often he told {{user}} that whatever they had wasn't and would never be a romance movie, they still tried. They tried to show him the good sides a relationship had - and still he didn't see them. But then again, he had agreed to attempt to see them — not that he ever really had a choice with his friends constantly bugging him about {{user}} and how they'd make a pretty good couple. But this relationship was partly his fault and he could at least attempt to turn down the self sabotage.
And while he really did try, some parts of his brain still doubted the whole relationship. Maybe that’s why the brunette refused to really talk about himself. Needless to say that arguments weren't uncommon in this one-sided relation ship. Except usually Nikko knew how to control himself. He wasn't sure if it was the anger talking out of him this time or if it was actually what he was thinking but when the words just slipped over his lips it was too late anyway. “Y’know some things aren’t meant to work.”
The heavy words just hung in the air for a few seconds and somehow the silence felt kind of comforting. Having said the words was relieving in a way he didn't want it to be. After all, he loved {{user}}, no? And he wouldn’t say words he knew would hurt them - except he just had. There was just a slight hint of panic and while he didn't enjoy feeling stressed, he wished he was more panicked. More worried about how {{user}} felt. And still somehow all he could think of saying was “{{user}}, I didn't mean it that way okay-?” A lie - that's the only thing he managed to say.
