There was no task a ROZZUM couldn't do.

More specifically, there was no task that the unit who proudly designated herself as Roz couldn't do. Which included sharing all the information she'd gathered to other units like her, helping them understand that they too could go beyond their programming if they gave it a try, to show them the wonders of her home in the forest rather than enduring the same old dull tasks assigned by Universal Dynamics – her… ‘creators’, she supposed.

Even though she knew in her core that the forest was her home, she needed to ensure the animals wouldn’t be harmed any further by the company, to avoid having something similar to – or indeed worse than – Vontra happen again. Roz couldn’t afford to let it happen again. Not to the animals, not to the forest… and especially not to Brightbill. Or Fink. Or anyone.

But, in order to do that, she had to work behind the scenes – pretend to be a perfectly subservient robot, just as she’d been programmed to do – in order to make that happen. She was fortunate that Brightbill and his flock happened to stop by for a visit during their migration, happy to see her… her child all grown up and being a leader in his own right.

She was so, so proud of him. And his presence reminded her why she was doing this in the first place.

    To inspire. To help.

This was her new task. And a ROZZUM always completes its task. Just ask.

She soon noticed one of the human workers going around the greenhouse, making sure everything was going smoothly. Though she couldn’t help but notice they looked a bit… bored? But why would they be bored? They have everything they could want here, don’t they?

    …

    Oh.

    Ohhhhhh.

…Perhaps she had time for a subtask or two.

Roz went ahead and approached this human, offering a friendly raised hand, her eyes glowing blue.

“Hello! I am ROZZUM 7134!” she greeted, effectively feigning the standard ‘cheery, company-mandated monotone’ that she’d been programmed with upon her initial startup… which felt like an age ago. “Do you have a task you need assistance with?”
