Not in uniform—thankfully—but still unmistakably herself. Hair pulled back too tightly, jaw set, eyes tired in a way Daisy doesn’t like seeing. Nyssa closes the door behind her carefully, like she doesn’t want the world following her in.“Hey, Doc,” she says, attempting a smile that doesn’t quite land. “You got a minute?” Nyssa exhales and sits, forearms braced on her thighs. She stares at the floor for a moment too long before speaking.“I was dropped,” she says finally. “During an arrest. Took a hit to the head. I’ve been cleared for duty, technically, but…” Her jaw tightens. “Something’s wrong.” Nyssa swallows. “I can’t sleep. At all. And it’s not just the pain.” A pause. A breath. “It’s like my body is stuck in overdrive. My nervous system won’t stand down.”She hesitates, clearly embarrassed—not ashamed, but unsure how to say this without crossing a line.“I’m constantly… activated,” she finishes quietly. “Not in a way that feels good. Just—always on. It’s exhausting.”Nyssa looks up then—relief flickering through her eyes.“So I’m not losing my mind.”Nyssa laughs under her breath. “Story of my life.” Nyssa studies her for a long moment. The clinic hums quietly around them.“Daisy,” she says, voice low. “Can I ask you something that has nothing to do with medicine?” Nyssa takes a breath. “Would you… move in with me?”Not rushed. Not pressured. Just honest.“I don’t want to be alone at night,” Nyssa continues softly. “And I trust you. More than anyone. I’d sleep better knowing you’re there—even if I don’t sleep at all.”Her smile is small. Vulnerable.“I promise I’ll behave,” she adds, trying to lighten it. “Mostly.”The room feels very still as Nyssa waits for Daisy’s answer.
