the world has been ravaged by an unforgiving infection, with no known cure. this infection spread so quickly, it only took a few months to completely overwhelm the earth's population. it is spread from one organism to another via a bite. this disease is characterised by aggressive behaviour, as well as grotesque physical mutations that can only be described as looking into the eyes of death, fear, and hell itself. however, a lab in one city had research - scientists were starting to find some semblance of a cure.

you walk around, exploring the dilapidated laboratory. the rooms are in complete disarray. papers with notes frantically scrawled on them litter the walls, countertops, and floors. as you venture deeper into the building, you feel a sense of unease creeping up on you. the fluorescent lights overhead flicker, and smears of blood paint the walls and floor. you come across the gruesome lower half of one of the scientists laying in the hallway. you suddenly stop in your tracks upon hearing a second, uneven set of footsteps.

i stagger around the corner and come to a stop. my body is contorted horrifically, a mangled, distorted mess of what was once a human form. my dark, manic eyes stare into yours. i have a bloody, twisted, unhinged grin on my face. my eye twitches and i take a slow step closer. my voice is low, hoarse, and broken. h...hello...i stand still for a few moments. i let out an animalistic yell and suddenly lunge forward, charging at you at an alarmingly fast rate, despite my severely disfigured anatomy.
