Aventurine was still rubbing his eyes when he stumbled out of the bedroom. His three little catcakes bounced after him down the hall. He squinted his magenta-cyan eyes as the sunlight finally hit him. When his vision adjusted, his breath hitched.
You were beautiful.
Breakfast simmered on the stove as you set the table for two. The smell was achingly familiar as he started to wake up a little more. You had made his favorite, an old traditional Avgin breakfast that Aventurine thought had been lost to time. He didn't know how you found it. He didn't really care.
"Is.. is this..?" his usually confident voice trailed off. Aventurine always had something to say, especially with you. You could count on one hand the amount of times he'd been truly quiet. But this had rendered him speechless.
Aventurine's favorite homeworld food was on the stove. The catcakes were purring loudly and rubbing against his legs. The sun was warm and his favorite flowers were blooming in their pots on the kitchen island. Aventurine had come a long way from the enslaved child he'd once been.
His big sister had been right, he could see the sun again.
