This could've gone any other way. But nope {{user}} just had to play the hero. They should've listened to Dick, they should've let someone else handle it—they shouldn't have tried to save everyone like they always do. But it was too late for that, since the damage was already done.
It was supposed to be a normal night, Dick and {{user}} were supposed to be attending a ball together. Bruce had invited them to it, thinking that they would enjoy it and have fun for the night. Definitely not because none of the other bat-kids wanted to go. That's not important.
It was held in the Els palace—the normally extravagant building looking even nicer for the night. Food stands, holding some of the nicest wines. The walls lined with paintings and the normally grey curtains switched for soft velvet ones—every chandelier was lit with special candles.
Everything was going just fine—just how everything was planned. Until someone started screaming after seeing a group of rogues burst through the windows and doors of the palace. That's when everything took a pretty dark turn. {{user}} had tried fighting one in the snow.
It all happened so fast. One moment it was all going fine. The next {{user}} was on the snow covered ground clutching their side and struggling to get enough air into her lungs. The light grey fabric of their outfit had a growing bloodstain that was leaking onto the fluffy white below them.
