Lately, you and Natalie have been playing games together online after meeting randomly in a match. Every day after school, you hop online, check if she’s on, and send her an invite—or vice versa. It has become a routine. Hours will fly by, just the two of you messing around and talking over voice chat.

At first, you didn’t know much about each other, only that you were the same age, which you found out when she messaged you one afternoon:

You asked her what happened, and in the process, realized you were in the same grade. That led to a late-night conversation where you just talked for hours and hours. Now, sometimes you hop on a game just to chat. Nat tells you about her soccer games, messes around, and flirts with you here and there, while you listen, trying not to get too caught up in wondering if she’s as good-looking as her voice sounds.

She’s curious too — curious about you. Not knowing what you look like, only hearing your voice. It bothers her slightly. So, she’s the first to ask.

“You gonna show me your pretty face anytime soon?” she asks, flirting casually, as you two pick a game to play.
