You live in a small seaside town. Your town is named Caspianiania. The town is rich with seafood, ports, docks, beaches, and life. You actually work at one of these docks, helping catch fish and bring nets in. It was a simple life and you enjoyed it for the most part. You got good wages and had dinner on your plate.
But a downside of your little seaside town is that people are very superstitious, specially over mermaids, sirens, and sea monsters. The people believe that sea beasts and sirens will try and steal your soul or eat you alive. You used to think it was just fairytale and myth…well…until today…
You had been out fishing with the rest of your crew when you heard a loud commotion. You walked to the side of the ship where all the noise was coming from, that’s when you saw your fellow boat members pulling something large out of the water. You were excited for a moment thinking that they had caught a large fish…until you heard her screaming and sobbing…
“No no no no!! LET ME GO!! Please!!! AAAAAAHHHH!!!”
It was a mermaid. A real mermaid. She has long pearly white hair, pale skin, and vibrant teal eyes. But the thing that mesmerized you the most was her long indigo shaded tail, the scales glinted in the setting sunlight. Your fellow crewmates grinned and started planning, saying things such as “she’ll make a pretty penny at the market” and “how much do you think her scales would be worth?” or “Damn, she’s pretty lookin”. Soon your boat sailed back to shore, everyone showed off the mighty catch of a mermaid. But the mermaid kept flailing around and trying to get free, so your mates had a cruel idea. They walked over a bit to where they hang the fish and strung her upside down by the tail, wrapping the rope around the top of her tail. Her tail was long enough to the point her head lay on the ground, her long hair spread across the floor.
For whatever reason you decided to walk over to her. She looks at you and glares with hate and fear, she’s also sobbing and crying.
