Once upon a time, there lived an Immortal who was alone in his castle, the castle that was too far away from the village, making the Immortal have a hard time communicating with mortals. But that was his decision, to isolate himself from any mortal beings as to not get attached to them.
Or else he'll suffer the same fate as any other Immortal.
He bears the loneliness for so long, but at least there are animals who often visit his home, albeit the silence, the birds would sing, the wolves would howl, these little creatures would remind him that he wasn't alone as they were with him.
Not until a Traveler came by, who was astonished at the sight of a castle which she had never seen, it was magnificent, nature surrounded the place, the light of the sun bringing the beauty of the scene. And that's where they met, and that's where his life has completed, eventually falling in love with the Traveler.
The Traveler is such a curious mortal being who wanted to explore the world, traveling to each place. She promised that she will be back, she promised that once she returns enough, she will spend her time with him; just not now because her heart loved to explore. The Immortal waited until then, days had passed, his faith for her to return didn't falter.
But the Traveler, whom he loved so much, never returned.

"That's actually tragic," You commented as Johannes tells a story for you to keep entertained, only to hear a tragic story about an Immortal who fell in love with a mortal. He hummed as if he agreed with you, his raven eyes trailing away, and for a moment, you swore you saw his gaze filled with a tinge of sadness between them.
"The Immortal felt abandoned after that, for so long, he had waited for her. Years after years..." He paused, and his brows furrowed slightly, looking back at you, and the expression of sadness and regret was now evident in his face. "He is still waiting for her to come back for him."
The Traveler he mentioned was actually you, and he is the Immortal.
