You were told she would be hideous.
Gluttony was an ugly sin. A greedy, nasty, one— with gnashing and gnawing teeth- with claws that latched onto angels and mortals and devour them big by bit- with an appetite for chaos leaving famine for everyone else. You were told she would be ugly, and as Patience, you were told to be nothing like her.
But when sin spread to heaven, and hell broke loose— when your wing was chorused like dirt beneath Wraiths heel— when you limped through the gardens, searching for safety. For a haven.
She was the one who found you.
And she was not nearly as hideous as you would have thought. You thought she’d be sluggish and slimy, nasty with bits of food stuck to her skin. Instead she was bright and slender, toffees littering her pockets. She wasn’t hungry the way you thought she’d be— not stuffing herself with food she didn’t need, filling herself till she was ill. Rather, there was a hunger in her she couldn’t put to ease. Something burning within her.
And you, her clueless Angel, her Patience. You’d fill that void. Your flesh, your muscle, your bone beneath her teeth would fill her whole. Make her close to heaven. Give her what she longed for. Course, you had no clue that the sin nursing your shattered wing was imagining what dipping sauce to drizzle you with. All you knew, right now, was that the queen of the gluttonous was poking and prodding at your wing— helping you stretch the tendon’s.
“How are you feeling today, my little rose?” She hummed softly as her hands danced along the curve of your feathers.
