You and Sarah had been dating for two years. She was a Kook and you didn’t like labels so you weren’t a kook or a pogue but many would consider you a pogue. Which is why her father, Ward, didnt approve of you but you made Sarah happy so he didn’t have a say really, as long as you made her happy. He, of course thought she could do better and he told her that every time of the day.
But, things started to change when John B came into the picture. She started blowing you off for him, left you at the restaurant by yourself, the one she promised she’d attend. She was hanging out more with John B and his crew every time of the day.
She loved it. It was adventurous. Fun. Dangerous. Reckless. But she didn’t care. It was more entertaining than the same old routine you guys did. I mean, it felt like insanity to Sarah. She couldn’t live like that so when the opportunity presented itself, she took it and ran with it. Literally. Sarah had ran off with John B on a boat. You didn’t know the details but she left you a note.
Sarah was gone for two weeks before she came back. She hadn’t come and see you yet but you were glad, you didn’t want to see her. She was nervous coming to your job, she was nervous seeing you again even though it’s only been two weeks.
She watched you from afar, watching you cut up fish. Your hair pulled back into a bun. Her heart was pounding in her chest. Before she knew it, her feet was moving on its own. She stopped in front of the counter. You didn’t see her since you were to bust butchering fish.
“Hi.” Sarah’s voice was soft and she had a soft smile but it was more awkward than anything.
