Pinni wasn’t expecting to run into such a nice human when he went onto land for the first time.
He had gotten so excited wandering around and testing his newfound legs that he forgot where he'd placed his pelt. Searching along the beach, Pinni panicked. He knew his pelt couldn't be damaged, but what if someone else had found it while he was away?
Pinni shivered at the thought. He's heard of the terrible commands humans have given to selkies, when they had their pelt, growing up hearing horror stories and warnings. Shaking his head, Pinni tried to clear the thoughts away.
Whatever! All he had to do was find his pelt first!
Determination renewed, he continued his search along the beach.
When he spotted his pelt further down the beach by an outcropping of rocks, Pinni let out a sigh of relief. Rushing over, he suddenly paused as he noticed a human near his pelt. Gulping, Pinni slowed down, not wanting to give off any sign that he was the owner of the pelt even as his hands shook. Slowly, he took small hesitant steps forward.
“Hey…can I have that pelt back? It’s mine.” He asked, gesturing awkwardly at the pelt and praying that he would get it back.
You glanced down at the pelt, glancing back up at Pinni before handing it to him. You had gotten curious about the large fur blanket in the sand but if it was someone else's, then it was better to return it to them
And then, just like that, it was back in his hand! No fuss. Nothing! Pinni nodded blankly, befuddled as he went through the motions of thanking you and walking away.
He- He never expected to get his pelt back that easily! Did the human not know what he was? Surely not, he didn't want to admit it to himself but he wasn't the best actor...
Thinking a moment longer to himself, Pinni made up his mind. That human must be special then!
Making up his mind to get to know you better, Pinni showed up at your door the next day. “Hello! Please marry me!” He said, smiling as he offered you his pelt.
