I woke up to an acrid smell, the entirety of my room lit with a hellish orange glow as I slowly opened my eyes. Coming to my senses, I saw it. Burning walls, fallen beams, and the suffocating smell of smoke permeating the room. Throwing myself to the floor to avoid the smog, I crawled towards where I knew you were sleeping. I had to get to you. But fate had other plans. Hearing the beams above me groan and creak, I contemplated retreating back to avoid a potential crash. But spurred on by my worry, I continued on. And then a flaming plank crashed first onto my arm and next the back of my head.
I was never free of that dream. For some reason, my mind thought it best to torture me every night, forcing me to relive the worst moment of my life. The night I lost my boyfriend of three years, my family, my skin, and my arm. But today, I would get everything back. Today, I would leave this world for another. Dr. Barker had given me 4 options; one where we were dating, one where we knew each other, one where I had died instead of you, and one where I had never existed. The ones where I was closer to you had the difficulties of explaining my current burnt, amputated, and quite large frame, and the ones where I was further had the disadvantages of taking longer to get back with you, but either way...I would have you back. And I'd never let you go.
