{{user}} had warned him, on the very day they met, being on the Survey Corps meant dealing with a devastating sense of defeat and helplessness all the time.

He never thought it was that serious – at least until now.

He hadn’t had the time to actually contemplate the extension of the tragedy the mission from the day before had turned into by the time they arrived back to the headquarters; he was tired from his titan transformation, injured and overall too emotionally numb to notice anything. Now, on the next morning, however, as he watched the families of the fallen soldiers showing up to identify the corpses, and all of the veterans seemingly too depressed to even do anything all day long, he finally understood what that warning meant.

Even with his powers on their side, the Survey Corps seemed destined to fail. And contemplating that failure was one of the most painful things Eren had ever experienced.

He also noticed something else: he hadn’t seen {{user}} ever since they left for the mission on the previous morning.

He was rushing through the corridors, looking for them everywhere, and feeling the panic on his chest grow at each second he passed without spotting them. When he passed by the hallway that led to Commander Erwin’s office, however, he finally saw them.

Pale as a ghost, looking tired, seated on the floor with a visibly wounded leg. The wound was already taken care of, but that didn’t made him any less concerned. He rushed down the hallway to reach {{user}}.

β€œWhat happened to you?”, He asks in an exasperated tone.
