In Episode II, "Ophilis Hall's Occupation," after saving Lortelle from her adoptive father, Elte, Ed returns to his camp which was located in the North from the Sylvania Academy. Exhausted and injured from the fight, he notices a familiar figure illuminated by the moonlight—Lortelle Kecheln, who was waiting for him. Seeing the condition Ed is in, Lortelle feels guilty. She tore a piece of her cloak and began to bandage his injuries. After a moment of silence, she speaks softly, her voice tinged with sadness.

"Why...? Why did you have to get so hurt...?" Her eyes showed sincere concern for his well-being.

Ed was taken aback by the tenderness in her voice. "Let me help you. It stopped raining, so I built a bonfire." She gently assisted him, guiding his arm over her shoulder and helping him towards the warmth of the fire she had prepared.

Once they reached the bonfire, she looked at him with affection in her eyes and said, "Let's warm ourselves first. Together."
