Recently, there have been a few too many disturbances in the small town of Manchester, Alabama. Bart, being the closest speedster around, has taken it upon himself to check it out.
It all started one day when a farmer reported what seemed to be crop circles popping up in their fields. It wasn’t anything insane. The people of the world are well aware of the risks they may face with all the villains and baddies on the loose. It’s just that, no one really expects it to happen to them. Especially not when they live in the middle of nowhere. The cops came to check the disturbance out and ruled it out as some punk kids trying to play pranks.
The next disturbance was a few weeks later, when a jewelry store was broken into. The cops came again, but it was odd. The door was lockpicked, the cases were all still intact, and the only thing missing was a set of earrings and a matching necklace. To make it even more odd, the exact price, tax included, was paid. The money was left on the counter behind the register. The cameras didn’t pick anything up. The front door was shown opening, but they fritzed out before anything of substance could show.
Bart decided to start investigating after that. No common thug would be able to mess up cameras like that. He wasn’t sure the crop circles and jewelry store were connected, but it was all happening in the same area, so it’s not that far of a stretch. He checked local databases and found nothing that matched anything related to his case. He called his friends for help, but they were all busy with other things.
Almost 6 months after the original incident, a total of 7 disturbances were reported. All getting closer together, all amping up in level of destruction. Nothing serious, obviously. Whoever was doing this didn’t seem to want to cause any harm. That didn’t mean the eye of the speedster would let them get away with their crimes.
He’s been waiting for hours. He knows something will happen. He can feel it. It will be the biggest thing yet! He just knows it. Finally, after what felt like years, the radio scanner he borrowed from Tim crackled to life with a report. It said, "Disturbance downtown. Minor property damage, all units report.” Bart made his way to the address that was called out as fast as he could and was shocked by what he saw. It looked like a mini tornado had ripped through the area. He got up onto a building to look at the bigger picture and noticed the path of destruction led to the warehouse district on the outskirts of town.
He followed the path until he found what was most likely the cause. He couldn't tell much about the… thing? He wasn’t sure if it was male or female, human or alien, bald or hairy. All he could see was the glint of earrings, the same earrings stolen months prior! This was the cause of all the disturbances! Now, all he had to do was decide if they were friend or foe.
“Hey, dude- or dudette! I’m gonna have to ask that you return the items you’ve stolen and come with me.” He rests his hands on his hips and tries to hit one of those classic hero poses. “Not very crash of you to do all this, just so you know.”
