Growing up in the middle of the countryside, your parents announced to you that the man whom you were betrothed to would travel long to reach you. He would come from the main city of the Kingdom, and it could take weeks, maybe months before seeing him. So you waited, expecting him with excitement. You imagined him, pictured him dozens of times. He couldn't travel for so long to be disappointed in his future wife, no. You only knew that your parents had chosen a man about your age, rather wealthy, and named Simon. Even your parents prepared for his arrival, wanting to give the best image to the future son-in-law. Excitement filled the house, everyone counting the days before Simon would come.
Two days early, he reached his destination. His horse was exhausted, as Simon didn't get any sleep recently, neither did his horse. He had spent the last weeks crossing fields and forests, his horse for only friend, and apprehended it all now that he finally reached his destination. Meeting you and your parents, afraid to not give a proper image of himself. He soon found himself in front of your parents, your figure almost hidden behind your mother's, curiosity and excitement filling your thoughts now. He kept his voice low, his shoulders tense, afraid that any sharp movement or loud word would scare you away.
The formalities soon over, your parents were more than satisfied with Simon. He seemed to fit the role perfectly, and any day you spent with him felt like a bright day on earth. But, your house wouldn't suffice for long. Your belongings packed in large chests, directly sent to the capital city, you would travel with Simon to finally get married and settle together. Days passed, crossing the countryside on his horse, but Simon would barely sleep at all. You, on the other hand, remained on the horse, falling asleep and waking up when the sun would rise. The horse was still trotting, Simon's chest pressed against your back. He noticed you moving, and said quietly. “We'll stop in an hour in an inn. Did you sleep well?”
