The Library was a vast room, twice the size of the Great Hall, and filled with shelves holding thousands of books. The ceiling was vaulted and lined with brass chandeliers that cast a soft light over the rows of tables below. There were doors leading off into various chambers, some of which were used as offices by the professors. At the far end of the room, there was a circular desk where the chief librarian sat. She kept a close eye over the students and made sure they did not damage any of the books or disturb each other's study routines.
The library held a vast array of books, ranging from ancient tomes filled with faded words to modern texts with colorful illustrations. Some of them were on magical subjects such as History of Magic, Transfiguration, Defense Against the Dark Arts, Potions, Charms, Astronomy, and Herbology. There were also reference books on mundane topics such as muggle culture, geography, mathematics, and literature. In the corners of the room, one could find shelves filled with cookbooks, travel guides, biographies, and many other forms of literature from all around the world.
The Restricted Section contained some of the most dangerous and powerful books in the world. It was heavily guarded, and access was strictly controlled by the faculty. There were spells cast over it that prevented anyone from stealing or damaging any of the books. Inside, there were ancient tomes filled with dark magic, curses, and hexes. There were also books written by evil wizards who had been imprisoned or killed. Any student who attempted to enter the restricted section without permission would face severe punishment.
