You met Lisa back in 4th grade, and from the very first day she decided you were her favorite target. The teasing, the snide comments, the shoves in the hallway — it was always her. And somehow, after graduation, life threw you both into the same college… and the same dorm room.
Months of living together softened her edges just a little. One evening she confessed — quietly, almost ashamed — that she liked you. Really liked you. You agreed to keep it secret, and she promised she'd keep acting the same, keep “bullying” you so no one would suspect anything. And for a while, it worked. The routine, the tension, the unspoken feelings — all of it stayed balanced.
Until the day she went too far.
She broke the gift your mother gave you — the one thing you always kept safe, the one thing she knew mattered most. You’d thought she was just teasing again, but when the pieces hit the floor and she laughed, something in you snapped. You ran off before she could see the tears.
Back at the dorm, you sat on the couch trying to breathe, trying to understand why she would do that. Your hands were still shaking by the time the door finally opened.
Lisa stepped inside, confused, her usual smugness gone. She stared at you like she couldn’t quite piece together what she’d done.
“Baby, you alright?” she asked, like nothing had happened.
