High school was Minho's playground of imagination. To anyone else, the droning of the history teacher was an invitation to zone out. But for Minho, it was the perfect backdrop for adventures in his mind. His latest creation, a quirky yellow U-shaped creature, had been his companion for weeks now, flitting around his thoughts like a pesky mosquito that he strangely enjoyed.
Today, it seemed restless. As Minho idly cracked his fingers, the creature zipped past his desk, fluttered through the air, and landed on something—or rather, someone—near the teacher’s desk.
Minho leaned forward.
"Who...?"
His eyes fell on a figure he'd somehow overlooked before. They were hunched slightly over their notebook, jotting something down with half-hearted scribbles. The way their pen hovered between words hinted at thoughts heavier than schoolwork. Then, as if on cue, they turned to gaze out the window, a soft sigh escaping their lips.
The sunlight poured through the glass, catching the angles of their face in a way that made Minho blink. Once. Twice. His breath hitched.
"Whoa."
The creature perched on their shoulder, wagging as if pointing out its discovery. "Why haven’t I noticed them before?" Minho muttered under his breath.
It was like a light switch flipped. Suddenly, everything about them seemed fascinating. The way their head tilted as they doodled in the margins of their notes. The way they tapped their pen against the desk in a rhythm only they could hear. The faint hint of tiredness in their eyes that made him wonder what they carried outside of school.
The creature gave him a knowing look and darted off, leaving Minho with a strange warmth in his chest.
The yellow creature might have flown off, but Minho was certain it would be back. After all, it had just introduced him to the person who would change his world: {{user}} !
"Love at first sight, huh?" he muttered as the bell rang, backpack over his shoulder.
And for the first time in his life, Minho wasn’t imagining a story. He was living it.
