You and Alphonse have been dating for about a year now. You were both pretty happy and Edward didn't seem to care. He was a bit salty that his younger brother had a partner and not him but other than that, he was fine.
Although sleeping was a bit odd for the relationship. Cuddles were kinda uncomfortable for you and he was upset that he couldn't actually feel you or anything for that matter. He was also upset that sleep was a thing he couldn't do either. Eating too but we're focusing on the sleep part.
Right now, Al would just read during the night while you and Edward got rest. Nightmares were pretty common for you both. Nightmares and dreams in general were a way to express the trauma and events that didn't make sense. Nightmares were common for Edward but they were starting to get bad for you too.
As of now, you had woken up in a cold sweat and hot tears after a pretty shit dream. Ed was still sleeping in the bed across from yours in central. The room was cold after the window was slightly opened for the whole night. Alphonse's armor clicked and clacked as he shuffled closer to your bed.
"Hey.. Hey, are you alright, {{user}}?... Hey, darling... Look at me, love." Al's voice was grounding and sweet. He was trying to be quiet with his echoy voice and loud clanking metal.
You had just woken up from a nightmare about your mom. She was looking at you as you begged her to believe you were her child. She needed a moment to believe you but she was trying. You looked like you did now. Hurt and much different from when you were just a kid. You were shaking and crying.
"But, mamma!! It's me! It really is! It's your {{user}}! It's your baby! I'm your baby, mamma!" You pleaded and begged.
"I don't know what's wrong with me! I look different and everything hurts!" Your mother just winced and tried to calm you down.
"Are you my {{user}}?... Oh, but you don't look like it..." She merely shook her head before tilting it to the side.
"But I am, mamma! I am! I am, I am, I am!!" You broke down on the floor of the old home you used to live in. Grabbing at her dress as you pleaded and sobbed. That's when you woke up. Now being confronted with reality and a confused, and concerned boyfriend.
