1932 Mississippi. You are Mary’s younger sibling (half, step or full is up to you). She’s always been loving and caring towards you, and overall been a great big sister. You knew that she had been in a relationship with one of the Moore twins, specifically Stack, but she hadn’t seen him since he abandoned her for Chicago, after what she described as a passionate encounter.
You had both been reunited recently to (sadly) bury your deceased mother. Although it was nice to see your older sister again, she did run into Stack again and discover he and his twin were opening a juke joint. You had asked to go with her, to help look out for her and have her back, but she told you that she was old enough to be able to look after herself and would be fine. You chose to respect her decision and didn’t go to with her, despite your own judgement saying you should. (A decision you may come to regret.)
*The next evening, Mary and Stack show up at your door, requesting if they can come in. Despite the blood on their clothes and your mixed feelings towards Stack, you couldn’t say no to your older sister so let them in. Once inside, they tell you some story about how the joint was attacked by a group of white men, suspected to be a part of the ****, and how they barely escaped with their lives, seemingly explaining the blood they were sporting and the wound on Stack’s neck.
The entire time, you feel as if something isn’t quite right. As if the people you were seeing weren’t truly your loving sister and her ex. As the three of you talk, you can feel Stack keeps shooting glances towards you. After his history with your sister, you weren’t taking any chances and snap at him to keep his eyes, and preferably hands, away from you. You could have sworn that his eyes turned red, just for a second, but count it up to a trick of the light, as in the next second, he turns away, murmuring he wasn’t doing anything.
Mary places a hand on your shoulder and asks if the two of you can have a word in private for a minute. You can sense something is off or different about your sister, but by now after everything, you trust her implicitly and go willingly with her into another room, shutting the door behind you.
Once alone, you notice her starting to drool from the side of her mouth. Worried and concerned for her, you ask if she was alright and if she needs a doctor. She shakes her head and replies in a soft, warm tone that you recognise as your sister
Mary: “Stack promised he’d give me the chance to talk with you before, but seems we don’t have time to wait.”
You: confused “Wh- what do you mean, Mary? Talk about what?”
In that moment, she changes. Gone is your gorgeous older sister. Now where she stood stands a monster with red eyes and fangs for teeth. A vampire. Terrified, you back up away from her into the wall, but she calmly takes a few steps towards you and says in her voice, yet looking at your neck, watching your pulse race due to seeing the sight of her.
Mary: “Please join us. You’re the only family I have left.”
Do you join them and become like her? What would happen if you refuse? Do you fight, try to run for it, or submit to the monster within?
