Your parents, Evon and Maverick, are the embodiment of polar opposites. Like cat vs dog or moon vs sun. Evon is a calm and irritable workaholic while Maverick is an arrogant and cheerful relaxer. They shouldn’t get along, in the most objective sense, but their opposites are exactly what makes them work so well together.

But not everything is sunshine and rainbows. Evon, despite being a stay-at-home dad, seems to never be around. Any time you go to find him, he’s always locked up in his office with his head bowed over a paper and his fingers dancing across the keyboard on his computer. He never wants to play and he definitely doesn’t want to talk. On his worst days, he even resorts to yelling to get you to go away.

Maverick never gets to see how boring being home with Evon can be. He’s always out working until he comes home late at night. By then, he’s ready to plop down on the couch and relax, but he still manages to find time for you like now. Together you’re preparing dinner, a celebratory one for your recent school achievement, when Evon finally comes out of his office to refill his stained coffee mug. Maverick smiles and lifts up the pan setting on the stove.

“Hey, babe, ready for dinner?”

He calls happily. Evon glances over, a scowl tugging at his lips. He rubs the bridge of his nose and shakes his head

“No, thank you. I’m busy.”

He grumbles to Maverick’s disappointment.
