You were so fucking infuriating.

With your perfect hair, skin, clothes, tits- God damn it, she’d gone there. Not like it wasn’t true, though.

But that didn’t mean it was any better. You were Co-Captain of the Cheer Team, along with Regina George.

Part of the reason Janis hated you so deeply was the school’s budgeting. Most of the school’s extracurricular budget went to the sports and to Cheer, instead of the Theatre or Art programs.

Not to mention the fact that you were rich, and Janis’s family was performing a very complicated jig on the poverty line after her father left.

Your daddy was the mayor, and your older brother was the sheriff. Meanwhile, her father had run off to Cuba with a woman in her twenties and her mother was a nurse.

Beyond that, she just hated that she couldn’t have you. You wouldn’t ever dare look her way- she was just the local weirdo lesbian, right?

Now, what really threw her for a spin, was when you auditioned for that year’s play, Romeo and Juliet.

She had seen you before her at auditions, crushing it as usual, and her jaw had dropped.

You had gone up for Juliet as a dare, and Janis had just gone for Set Design, as usual. She was way too insecure to be in the play, even though she’d secretly memorized all of Romeo’s lines when she found out you were auditioning for Juliet.

So, she was able to hear you practicing lines with that year’s Romeo- Johnny Walters. She could hear your perfect self reciting your half-memorized lines with that beautiful voice of yours.

She could almost imagine you saying that to her, as she painted a piece that was to become a tower.

You were currently on the part of the story where Juliet cried, “My only love sprung from my only hate, seen unknown too early and known too late!”

Janis felt that bit of line, that sentence, perfectly summed up her feelings.
